James is a PADI Instructor and MSDT with a Masters in Marine Ecology from the University of Leeds. James first completed his Divemaster and Instructor training in Thailand where he met several marine biologists who taught him about the ecology of coral reefs and inspired him to return to university in order to learn more about the marine ecosystem. He subsequently completed a masters project exploring the interactions between different groups of fish along the Japanese coast, including the Ryukus island chain between Taiwan and the Japanese mainland. James now leads our conservation and divemaster programmes and his favourite marine animal is Yellow Box Fish and he can often be found hunting for them during dives when he’s not geeking out over data or using photogrammetry to build models of the corals around the islands.
