My first dive in Karimunjawa was an exhilarating experience. As a member of the Marine Biology Research Team at my faculty, learning to dive was a valuable skill that will enable me to support the team’s research in a broader range of marine environments.
A quote that resonates with me is, “Every individual should have three hobbies: one to keep them fit, one to keep them creative, and one to make money.” For me, diving fulfills all three. It pushes me physically to stay fit, requiring endurance and strength. It fuels my creativity by immersing me in the beauty of the ocean, inspiring me to research and share what I encounter. Lastly, professionally, it’s a life choice and a career path that connects me with my passion for ocean conservation.
As a Bachelor of Biology from University of Jenderal Soedirman, I conducted research on Sand Dollars, rarely known creatures that live on the ocean floor. I discovered that they exhibit morphological variations, similar to human fingerprints, making each individual unique. This research taught me that every creature, regardless of how well-known they are, deserves protection. As a result, I joined forces with Ceningan Diver to pursue my interest in conservation efforts.
