Mu’Arrif Daffa Farissadid

Arrif has loved the ocean for as long as they can remember. As a child, they were captivated by marine magazines spending hours imagining the vibrant life beneath the surface. That early curiosity grew into a deep passion for marine conservation.

While pursuing their degree in Fisheries at Universitas Padjadjaran, Arrif interned at Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. There, he gained first-hand experience with marine policy, conservation planning, and the challenges of protecting ocean resources at a national level. This experience shaped their understanding of how science and policy must work together to drive lasting change.

Motivated by this insight, Arrif conducted their undergraduate thesis in North Lombok, where he spent a month surveying the abundance and diversity of reef fish in Pandanan Marine Park. Living among a coastal community and diving daily to collect data, they strengthened both their scientific skills and their emotional connection to the sea.

Now part of the Ceningan Divers team, Arrif is channeling their knowledge and passion into real world impact. Whether it’s engaging with divers about the importance of reef ecosystems or supporting marine education efforts, turning science into stories that connect people with the ocean.
